The Poncetys Estate in Burgundy |
- In Burgundy, the vineyard looks like a big mosaic composed of a multitude of small plots surrounded by stonewalls. The Soil composition (complex and varied), gives each terroir their own characteristics. The wines get their aromatic tints and particular savors from these terroirs .
Cf le Mâconnais:
The Mâconnais is the most southern and widest region of the Burgundy vineyard. It is in this area that the Chardonnay variety finds its best terroir. There, this grape-variety gives birth to great white wines such as Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé... The red Mâcons, made from the Gamay variety delight connoisseurs with their freshness and red fruit savors. The Poncetys Estate's vines, located between the Vergisson and Solutré Rocks, have all the qualities required for the making of great southern Burgundy wines. On a surface of 18 hectares of vines in the appellations Pouilly Fuissé, Saint-Véran, red Mâcon, and Burgundy Crémant, the estate yearly produces 1,150 hectoliters of white and red wines as well Burgundy Crémant.
